Intisar Abioto

The Black

February 3 – 25, 2017

Opening Reception, Friday, February 3, 5:00 p.m.

For two years Portland-based photographer-dancer-explorer Intisar Abioto has traveled on a dream of a journey to meet, speak with, and image Black people across the wide African diaspora. With a goal of imaging us – to us – however we exist wherever we exist – in cities and sites around our human world, Abioto has to date traveled to eighteen cities, seven countries,

and three continents. This installation represents the first leg of this ongoing work. It will also include an installation of Abioto’s Rehearsal at Portland Art Museum: In Response to Fujikasa Satoko’s Flow #1 by filmmaker Roland Dahwen Wu.
